Zes'arou Al'Gari Vikon / Sage

Varanyi prince exiled to Earth in 'Return of the Destroyer' for the sin of arguing against his empire's failed invasion attempt. Sh'Garothayn Varanyi after the events of 'The Varanyi Civil War' until 'Anniversary'.

Character Sheets   1987 1992
  • Abdicate the Throne: In 'Anniversary', Vikon did this after 100 years on the Sh'Garothayn Throne in favor of his son Chegath
  • Afraid of Their Own Strength: Deliberately holds back his true powers because he is afraid of turning into his bully of an older brother.
    • When he finally stops holding back in 'The Varanyi Civil War' we see why. Both Human and Varanyi are *terrified* when he enters Angry God Mode for the first time.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: THIS instead of his psionics might as well be his superpower, given the number of times he points out something to either teammates or villains which they should have thought of (or through) themselves.
  • Battle in the Center of the Mind: How he disrupts Zorran's control of Megaterak in 'Megaterak Raids Again'
  • The Exile: Sentenced by his people to live on Earth after they failed to invade it in 'Reign of the Destroyer'
    • In his defense, he had tried to talk them out of the invasion attempt...
  • Mind Over Manners: He's one of the most powerful psionics from a race of psionics which has attacked Earth TWICE during the series run. Strict adherence to this trope is the only reason his teammates trust him as they do
  • Mind Over Matter: His telekinesis is not up to Starforce levels -- unless he's in Angry God mode.
  • Only Sane Man: Feels like this *frequently* around humans.
  • Rubber-Forehead Aliens: Varanyi are tall humanoids with 0 to 5 head ridges extending from the bridge of their nose to the back of their head. The more head ridges, the more powerful the Varanyi's psionic abilities are.
    • Vikon is a 5-ridged Varanyi, incidentally, which in their society makes him royalty.
  • The Right of a Superior Species: This is how he behaves toward all Humanity when we first meet him in 'Reconnaisance in Force'
  • Spare to the Throne: Before 'The Varanyi Civil War', Vikon was third in line to the Sh'Garothayn Throne behind his father Chegath and older brother Tlokon
  • Telepathy: Ranger uses Sage first and foremost as secure communications between everyone on the team. Against villain teams, he will then have him Mind Control one of the villains to attack their teammates, which removes two opponents
  • Voice of the Legion: What he sounds like in Angry God Mode
  • World of Cardboard Speech: Delivers an *epic* one to T'Nereq's army in 'The Varanyi Civil War' as he enters Angry God Mode for the first time.
